Early in the morning, we set off to Tierra del Fuego National Park, which is located 12 km from the centre of the city of Ushuaia. Before entering the National Park, we stop at the End of the World Train station (optional) where passengers who wish may choose to take the journey of the mythical train (about 60 minutes) that ends inside the National Park. However, those who do not travel by train can enjoy a short walk in the Fuegian forest.

Once the train tour is over, the group meets again inside the Park with the guide to continue the tour to Ensenada, a bay that combines the Andes, the sub-Antarctic forest and the sea in the same place. Native people inhabited there and their archaeological remains are found. We continue to Acigami Glacier Lake (Roca) shared with Chile, to appreciate the flora and fauna that will surprise us with their beauty, and Lapataia Bay, where the sign indicating that we have reached the end of the Pan-American route is located.

Train of the End of the World

Originally, the mythical Ferrocarril Austral Fueguino departs from the prison, nestled in the heart of Ushuaia city. This train would carry prisoners into the depths of the Fuegian forest, where they ventured to gather firewood for heating both the penitentiary and the burgeoning township of Ushuaia. Those incarcerated souls were transported within rudimentary cargo carriages, back to back, their legs bound in shackles.

The train resumed its operations in 1994, only for tourist purposes. Nowadays, the journey starts at the “End of the World” Station, aboard a replica of the “Prisoner’s Train.” As we embark, ancient forests, meandering rivers, pristine bogs, and the reconstruction of an indigenous settlement unfold before our eyes. The ride includes a stop at Macarena Waterfall, and it concludes at Tierra del Fuego National Park, where we meet with our guide to continue our adventure.

Private Navigation with Dinner in Akawaia Boat

Sailing on Akawaia invites you to know Ushuaia from another perspective, an experience that bears the seal of Los Cauquenes and that, for the last eight years, has been captained by Gabriel Rayes. A man with a vast experience in the waters of the South Atlantic, who places in his hands the illusion of connecting with the Beagle Channel, with departures throughout the year.

In the course of the trip, you will enjoy the wonderful views and the chef will taste you with an exquisite 3-course menu.
